Entrance of exhibition

The first zone represents the beginning of the relationship. Visitors is able to see the exhibition synopsis and the activity table where visitors can take will be here.

Interactive Area

Alongside the artwork, the room is lit with a cool restaurant-style lighting and accompanied by props that resemble those in the artwork to create a livelier experience that audiences can take a photo with and recreate the setting in the artwork.

Routine

As the visitors walk deeper into this room, they will be able to view this artwork depicting the guy standing inside an MRT carriage, through a window panel to mimic a closed MRT door and representing meeting and greeting to start spending a day together.

Activity Area

As the visitors turn to the left, they will see the activity table with the zine stickers before entering the second part of this zone.

Bus Ride

60cm x 60cm, Digital Illustration

Visitor will enter the entrance and see a warm art piece of the couple sitting together on the bus. This part of the zone will be lighted with warm soft yellow spotlight that compliment the artwork’s colour palette. Opposite the artworks are seats which resemble those of a bus in Singapore for visitors to sit and feel that they’re on the bus and with the couple, and to represent travelling to places together. The activity table with zine stickers are behind the seats and to the right wall.

Activity Area

Wishing Everyday was Longer

visitors will walk away from the MRT door to “go home”. In this part of this zone, there will be music playing from the CD players on the walls that is accompanied by the sound of MRT trains travelling on the tracks, to mimic walking home while listening to their favorite music

My Favourite Song is You

The artwork (and activity table) will be placed near the end of the zone representing the reminiscing of their significant other, which feels like listening to their favorite song.

Entrance

The entrance of the cafe, visitors can immerse themselves to the ambience.

Moments worth remembering

Visitors will be greeted with a ”café setting” with clean and minimal warm white track lighting accompanied by brown wooden floor. The set of 3 art pieces shows that the couple is making cake on Christmas day, representing spending important days and seasons together.. The main highlight of this space is the middle artwork where the visitor can see the couple outside of the café.

Cafe area

The space is decorated with props that represents a cafe such as table, chairs, counter table and plants, which visitors can take photographs with.

Activity Area

The activity table with zine stickers is placed in front of a notice board opposite the artworks.

The stars shined brighter that night

These nights felt magical

Visitors will be greeted with a dimly lit room with grass patch flooring and picnic mats. Lighting will be soft to ensure the visitors eyes are comfortable and the artwork on the opposite end of the room will be spotlighted with yellow flush recessed light that well complimented with the artwork. The purpose of the grass patch floor is to make the visitor feel as if they’re accompanying the couple in the artwork.

Nothing like doing nothing with you

When the visitor looks through a clear glass panel to the right of the room, they will see another artwork (right) across a small pool of water (representing a lake) that depicts the couple looking up and across the lake. Visitors are allowed to sit or lay down to get a better view of the artwork and to create a sense of comfort in the “nighttime”. The activity table with zine stickers are placed at both left corners of the room.

Two strangers

Love at first sight

Visitors will be greeted with a minimal room with its sole focus on the artwork on the opposite wall of the room, depicting the guy admiring the girl from afar, representing the first time he saw her, and fell in love. This room is supposed to symbolise how falling in love felt like; having nothing else on his mind and the only focus was on the other person. This room also symbolises the time he decided, he wanted to be alone, together with her. Here, visitors get the complete the zine making activity at the seats and tables provided.

Synopsis of the Exhibition

Whitney is a Singapore based illustrator, with creativity that reflects and captures the essence of shades, tones, smiles, joy and even grief.

This exhibition features five different zones that allow visitors to feel the connectedness with the couple depicted in the artworks.

In Alone;Together, it will awake most of your senses - hearing, visual and touch.

Slice of my Activity Book

The Zine Making activity helps tie together the exhibition. The purpose is to allow visitors to better recognise the intentions behind the exhibition and its’ theme, bringing individual pieces together. This activity will be facilitated using activity booklet, memorabilia stickers and question prompts

Visitors will be given an activity booklet at the beginning of the exhibition. Along the way, visitors will have to collect memorabilia stickers that is designed to represent the different artworks from each zone. At the end of the exhibition, there will be an area for visitors to decorate their zine and answer prompt questions given in the booklet. Visitors are allowed to take their creation back home.
